Thanks for sharing your story. I am so glad that you are able to reduce your seizures with the diet!

Based on the research on epilepsy, it seems that when the brain uses ketones for fuel, it changes the activity of your neurons in a way that can reduce seizures. This means that coconut oil, MCT oil, and other ketone-boosting supplements may help reduce seizures. Limiting your sugar consumption, exercising more, and intermittent fasting may help reduce seizures as well.

To make it easier for you to stick to keto, try searching through our recipe catalog to find keto recipes that the whole family will enjoy like cauliflower Mac and cheese:

I hope this helps. If you need anything else, please let me know.

Thanks for letting us know. Unfortunately, it isn’t 100% certain that keto will help all cases of epilepsy.

However, I recommend sticking to a whole food diet if you decide to stop keto. Eating less refined sugar can help (with seizures and blood markers).

You can also try supplementing with medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) — these fats will be converted to ketones and provide your brain with an alternative source of fuel that may have a preventative effect against seizures.
