(We have a few recipes too!) When at the store check the labels and look for some without added sugars.

Hey Cath! It sounds about right to have a crash of energy early in. Your body is adjusting to creating the new enzymes to deal with fat. Make sure you’re getting enough water and salt into your diet – this usually helps with the electrolyte counts as in the beginning, you pee a lot of them out. For the next few days, just try to increase water intake and increase salt content in your foods – drink broth if you need to, as it will help.

Make sure you’re taking a multivitamin for your micronutrients, and it should only be a few more days until you start feeling that energy come back 🙂

I have just discovered your awesome site 4 days in on my keto diet (first time ever) after being vegan. I am doing ok but tonight have found a massive crash in energy – so tired! Is this normal early in? I am not freaking about it, and enjoying the diet so far as I mentally found that I dont have an issue with consuming a diet high in healthy fats, surprisingly. Any advice or info about the next few days would be appreciated. Many thanks.

I’ll definitely have to try that some time in the future, it sounds awesome!

I take kebab skewers (I have metal ones) and just let the meat hang between the grill holes in your oven. I put the oven on REALLY low and stick a wooden spoon in the door so its a little open. I think it takes around 6 hours. There’s absolutely no difference in flavor or anything.

I love jerky but I don’t make it myself. Don’t worry about the sodium, it’s not that big a deal to be honest – but if you make your own that’s awesome. I wanted to try it out in the oven because I heard it’s still pretty great without a dehydrator 🙂

Mostly home made since they add a lot of sugar /teriyaki sauce to the store bought stuff. I know it’s high sodium but I like to chew on something some times.
