Ellonda, I would just aim for 1600 straight then. Giving yourself a higher calorie deficit may sound fun and all, but it can also lead to metabolic damage. I think the 1600 range is fine for you and you can use this range for quite some time as you lose weight. Though, if you have been eating very low calorie for a while, I suggest working your way up to this calorie range over a 2 week or so period.

I decided to go right between the 20 and 25% range deficit at 1550 (instead of 1514 or 1614) I’m just weird and like whole numbers!

You’re very welcome! I never suggest weighing daily, just because water weight can fluctuate a couple of pounds (up or down) per day. If you weigh every week or every 2 weeks, you get a much clearer idea of how much you are losing 🙂

Thank you SO much. I will definitely try this and stay away from the scale. It’s had because i usually weight myself DAILY.

Yeah sure. If I were you, I’d increase the calories you’re eating. 50% deficit will slow your metabolism down greatly, and will slow weight loss down, too. If you’ve been eating like this for a while (previously to keto included) then you can expect a small bit of weight gain if you go by the macros I got. Though, I suggest eating to these macros (track daily) and don’t weigh yourself for 2 weeks. Give it a go and see what happens 🙂

1614 kcal Daily Calorie Intake
20 g Net Carbs (5%, 80 kcal)
75 g Protein (19%, 300 kcal)
137 g Fat (76%, 1234 kcal)

Thanks!!!! I just used your KETO calc and it says a 25% deficit is 1513.

I weight 255 (not for long!) and my boday fat is about 51% (but this is an estimate, also used from a calculator. I’m 5’5″ and a 3-y/o female. I don’t have a fat measurement tool.

Hey and welcome! That large of a deficit may just be too much and it’s putting strain on your metabolism. What is your current weight and bodyfat %? If you give me those, I can give you some macros to follow along with so maybe you can have a bit more luck with your weight loss.

I started Keto with a 4 day fat fast where I lost 3.1 pounds and did a lot of research and wanted to try the lifestyle. I’m hoping to lost about 75 pounds, getting me to ONEderland and then go from there. After my 1st week of Keto, shark week came and I only lost about 2 pounds and this week I’ve lost NONE at all. I hear about ppl losing like 15-20 pounds in the first month and then tapering off. It’s been 3 weeks and I haven’t lost anything like that. My birthday is in Hawaii in September and I would like to hit 45 pound by then (I’m at about 20 now). Either way, I’m not losing like I feel I should, at least not in the beginning. I’m not sure if it’s due to how I’m eating or not. I’ve pretty much gotten recipes down and I’ve been trying things, no carbs, only from fruits and veggies, and I drink half my body weight in ounces in water which is about 127 ounces everyday – I slip some on the weekend. Anyway, what is the difference between the FAT FAST and what I’m doing Keto now? Maybe I don’t have enough variety in my diet? I just don’t understand what I’m doing wrong?! I’m thinking now that I’ve read this, this that I am not getting enough calories. I have a HUGE deficit and I think my body thinks I’m starving. I’m scared if I eat too much then I will not lose. But that my be my problem. I’ve been eating the same number of calories suggested in the fat fast!!!

Here are my Macros: 70% fat (86g), 25% protein 69g), and 5% carbs (14g). I shoot for 1,000 to 1,100 calories per day and that gives me about a 1,152 calorie deficit.
