It should help with not feeling the “pump”. Keep in mind that the first 3-4 weeks on keto will give lower energy levels as your body adapts too. You may also benefit from eating slightly more based on your workouts.

Hey Kate!

Sorry for the late reply – but what I would suggest for you is to consume fats a few hours prior to your race. If you’ve been doing Keto for 2 months, you should be fat adapted by now, and you could drink something like a buttered bone broth 2-3 hours before your race. Even including coconut oil or MCT oil for that extra boost of energy.

Hope that helps!
Craig

I’m running a half-marathon on Sunday…I have been following a keto diet for 2 months now, feel great, am in good condition. I believe you may have covered this on the site but I can’t seem to locate it so apologies for redundancy! In your opinion, (and significant knowledge/research) what do you recommend that I eat prior to the race, during, and after? For my long runs I have not used any typical long-run drinks or GU. I am 125 pounds, 5’6″, am eating about 1,800-2,000 calories/day (under 50g total carbs and around 100g protein). I ran Boston in April, wasn’t in keto then, was following Paleo, got very dehydrated (but made it to the end, not pretty!). Any thoughts are most welcome, thank you!!!

Alenos, HIIT would be considered endurance training. Usually athletes will decide which they do based on their needs.

Is HIIT considered endurance training? What is considered endurance training? How often should I do this vs. strength straining? Thank you
